This is Dan Warburton your transformational coach.
Today we are going to be answering the question: what does a transformational coach do?
Unlike counsellors, therapists and psychologists, transformational coaches actually apply what they have learned from their own lives and implements it into coaching to enable others to access it then. Psychology, counselling and therapy are usually methods that are learned and then taught or given away to somebody else. But a transformational coach has literally undergone years and years of self-development and transformational work on themselves, then learned how to articulate the breakthroughs and transformations they have had, in a way that somebody else can access them through their coaching.
Let me give you an example; I’ve had a life where I’ve made many mistakes, failed business, failed relationships, and throughout my whole life everything seemed out of reach and difficult. That was before I had a breakthrough and a transformation that had me seeing and accessing that new way of being, which helped me take new actions and see the world in a new way.
So let me explain this in a way so that you can access it; One of my transformations was distinguishing an event that happened when I was 3 years old, and I was sat in a double-push pram with my brother next to me. My mother came out the shop and I put my hands up so she could give me what she’d bought. She ignored me and gave it to my brother. I was really angry at my brother; I was three years old, he was one, and he had taken all the love and attention away from me. Up until then, my world was perfect. So to get my revenge I leant over and bit his ear (he’s forgiven me now, don’t worry!). My father then saw this, my brother was then screaming and crying so he ran over to me and said: “No! you mustn’t do that, he is your brother, you must love your brother!”.
Now, he said this with a stern voice but he was only saying this from a place of love, but what happened is I then made that mean “I’m not good enough, nobody wants me”. So I then lived in a world as if that is how it was, that I was not good enough and nobody wanted me. I then experienced a series of events that forever proved to me that 'I am just not good enough and nobody wants me'. And the harder I tried to make sure I was good enough and wanted, the more that people felt uncomfortable around me or felt that I was intense or too much for them. But once I saw the event and I saw what I made it mean, I was then able to separate the event from the meaning. I was then able to see the meaning itself. And then in seeing the meaning as separate to the event, the meaning disappeared and I was no longer carrying this view of myself and the world around me.
All of a sudden I was no longer in a world where 'I am not good enough and not wants me'. Since then I’ve been able to speak in a way that is clear, purely by making requests, proposals and promises. And this ability is the foundation of becoming self-employed, creating any business or creating and living a life you love.
So that is what a transformational coach does, a transformational coach literally coaches based on their own self transformation, from their own personal practice and life experiences.
